The Travel, Tourism, Hospitality and Catering industry includes hotels, dining and drinking, entertainment and attractions such as museums, theme parks and sports facilities.

Our extensive sector review included:

  • detailed interviews with over 145 stakeholders
  • focussed discussions with 279 learners
  • a technical review of qualifications
  • an international review
  • and an online questionnaire

Approval Criteria

Our Travel and Tourism reforms and engagement with key stakeholders within the sector have led to the introduction of new qualifications. These qualifications will be available for learners in school and further education settings.

We worked with stakeholders to design approval criteria for these qualifications, which set subject content and assessment requirements for them. The criteria we developed are:

Our sector review identified some issues with the structure and range of the existing Hospitality and Catering qualifications offered in Wales.

Therefore, we've launched a national conversation to give the people of Wales a chance to have their say on proposals for new Hospitality and Catering qualifications.
